I have had a compulsion to create art since an early age. A fascination with artistic "creativity" and the processes used to express it has always been with me, which eventually resulted in gaining an A Level in art at Night Class. This spurred me on to enrolling in an Art foundation course from which I gained a Diploma in Art and Design, and later I spent 3 years at Lincoln University (Hull School of Art).
I now have particular interest in portrait and figurative painting. Experimentation with varied media and combinations was always central to my artistic practice. I have worked with most media, including oil, pastel, charcoal, watercolour, inks, acrylics, printing, and also 3d modelling and photography.
Circumstances have led me to embrace digital methods of producing artworks. I have worked hard to integrate the skills, knowledge and working methods that I used in traditional art into my digital painting workflow.
Inspirational artists that I admire are far too many to mention, but must include Munch, Modigliani, Goya, Lovis Corinth, Cezanne, Hambling, Paula Rego, Rembrandt, Lucean Freud, Picasso, Van Gogh, Basquiat, the German Expressionists, Chaim Soutine etc. etc.
I currently use a Huion Kamvas 22 Pro graphics pen monitor, and software includes Corel Painter 2020, ArtRage, Paintstorm Studio, and Rebelle.
